Cardia — Terms
These are the terms for using Cardia, an iOS app I make under the name Koirala Studio. If anything's unclear, email support@koirala.studio.
Using the app
You can use Cardia on any Apple device you own, for personal wellness tracking. Don't reverse-engineer it, don't resell it, and don't use it to break the law or hurt anyone.
Not a medical device
Cardia measures heart rate and HRV with your iPhone camera and shows trends over time. Readings can vary with stress, caffeine, sleep, temperature, and how still you are — and they can be wrong. Cardia is for personal trends only. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent anything, and it is not a substitute for a doctor or clinical test.
Don't use Cardia to decide whether you're having a medical emergency. If you feel chest pain, severe shortness of breath, fainting, or anything that worries you, call emergency services or seek medical care.
Use it sensibly
Take readings when you're safe to pause — seated and still. Don't use the camera while driving or operating machinery. Place your finger properly over the camera and flash as directed.
Subscriptions
If Cardia offers a paid plan, it is billed through Apple. Length, price, and any trial are shown in the app and on the App Store at purchase. Cancel in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel billing.
Refunds
Apple handles all payments and refunds. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com.
No warranty
Cardia is provided "as is." I can't guarantee perfect readings, uninterrupted service, or that features will never change.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, I'm not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages from using or not being able to use Cardia. If I am liable, the total is capped at the greater of (a) what you paid me through Apple in the last 12 months, or (b) CAD $10.
Apple's role
These terms are between you and me (Koirala Studio), not Apple. Apple has no responsibility for Cardia or its contents. Apple may enforce these terms as a third-party beneficiary.
If these terms change
I'll update the date at the top. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Where this is governed
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada. Consumer protections in your home jurisdiction still apply where required.
